About us

Siemens Energy is one of the world’s leading energy technology companies. The company works with its customers and partners on energy systems for the future, thus supporting the transition to a more sustainable world. With its portfolio of products, solutions and services, Siemens Energy covers almost the entire energy value chain – from power generation and transmission to storage. The portfolio includes conventional and renewable energy technology, such as gas and steam turbines, hybrid power plants operated with hydrogen, and power generators and transformers. A majority stake in the wind power subsidiary Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) makes Siemens Energy a global market leader for renewable energies. An estimated one-sixth of the electricity generated worldwide is based on technologies from Siemens Energy. Siemens Energy employs 97,000 people worldwide in more than 90 countries and generated revenue of around €31 billion in fiscal year 2023. Siemens Energy is a trademark licensed by Siemens AG

In a world where titles often overshadow individuality, it's crucial to remember that people are not confined by their roles; rather, they're shaped by their motivations and passions to grow. Within my HR space, It is heartening to meet individuals who seek feedback, "authentic feedback", as a commitment to their own growth and self improvement beyond their day to day and current titles. While it was hard at the beginning to find the right words, politically correct terms to give proper feedback to those who seek it, I learned throughout my career that true, authentic and constructive feedback with intentions to provide real perspective to those asking for it, is the most impactful. I have learned that using the "constructive" terminologies is as important as giving right examples of how people can change would help then relate and resonate to the feedback provided. People's willingness to learn and evolve is not to be taken for granted and I, on a personal level get a deep a sense of joy that my role as HR head at Siemens Energy and my passion towards people plays an impactful role in other people's progress. Everyone has a role to play in the #energytransition 👥. As the International Energy Agency (IEA) marks its 50th anniversary, we recognise that their work continues to be pivotal in helping countries and industries navigate the energy transition, balancing economic growth, environmental sustainability, and energy security. Together, we are working towards a world where energy is abundant, clean, and accessible to all.

📢 We're excited to share our plans to build and service large power transformers in our Charlotte, North Carolina facility - another step forward in addressing U.S. national energy supply and advancing the #energytransition. Large power transformers increase or decrease electrical voltage for use in different applications, which enables the transmission of electricity over long distances, and stabilizes electrical transmission across regions and are a key component of expanding existing grid infrastructure.

Today we release our Q1 figures, but this is not new information! So today we bring you some figures that might be new (and maybe more interesting!) to you: 1️⃣ The floating combined cycle power plant, Estrella del Mar II, travelled 46 days to get to Santo Domingo, where it can energize up to 100K homes. 2️⃣ The Viking Link Interconnector enables bi-directional power switch between the UK and Denmark and is 765km long, which is the length of over 7,000 football pitches! 3️⃣ We have 97,000 #teampurple colleagues in over 90 countries energizing society around the globe. 4️⃣ The share of women in top leadership positions is now 28% - step by step we are improving this.

In #Australia, we are one of the smaller employers: 290 people work for #TeamPurple Down Under. However, their influence on the energy landscape should not be underestimated. Step by step we are doing everything we can to drive forward the energy transition: ✔ We are one of the industry partners of the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG)-run Hydrogen Park South Australia. With our innovative solution, a facility is able to produce an estimated of 20 kilograms of clean hydrogen per hour, amounting to 175 tonnes of green hydrogen for Australia each year. ✔ Grids often lack the inertia of heavy power turbines that can instantly bridge sudden frequency drops. So, to avert the risk of blackouts, Australian grid operator ElectraNet Pty Ltd is turning to high-tech flywheels to increase inertia and maintain grid stability. In terms of energy, Australia is a really exciting continent, but unfortunately too little is known about it when it comes to the #energytransition. We want to change that! Board member Tim Holt is in #Australia for four days to get to know the local energy market better and it’s a great opportunity to share some interesting energy facts about Down Under. Did you know that Australia’s most successful rock band AC⚡DC wouldn't exist without Siemens Energy's technology, but we've moved on and now it's all about HV⚡DC! As you can see, there is a lot to tell about Australia and energy: 👉 The flight from Frankfurt to Brisbane is about 16,000 kilometers and the individual CO2 footprint is about 13.9 tons. To "compensate" for this amount of CO2, our electrolyzer "Trailblazer" at the Air Liquide plant in Oberhausen has to run for just over 4 hours. The flight to Australia takes around 21 hours, during which time our electrolyzer produces around 6,700 kg of hydrogen. That's almost 53 tons of CO2 equivalent. 👉 If Tim looks out of the window on his flight to Australia, he may be lucky enough to see various wind parks from Siemens Gamesa. For example, in Steinriegel, one of the largest wind parks in Austria. Or further south in Turkey, where he flies over the Kanije and Kiyikoy wind parks near Istanbul, but also in the center of Turkey in Baglar or Ardicli, where a total of 53 turbines have been installed. Further into his flight, Tim may fly over our turbines located in India, 96 of them at the Bableshwar wind park and 100 turbines in Poovani. 👉 If Tim were to greet every Siemens Energy employee in Australia personally, he would have to shake 290 hands. So we're a very small employer in Australia, but we're still happy to have #TeamPurple driving forward the energy transition in Australia.
