📢 2nd workshop of the project UP2030 HE in Granollers .  👉 to debate and co-create on the design of climate neutral cities and define the VISIONS for the future neighborhood of La Bòbila. 🗣 The participants, including representatives of civil society and local government, contributed to generating a space for participatory debate that allows laying the foundations for a climate-responsible neighborhood and city. 🏙 The agenda also included the inspiring talk on transformative strategies in cities to deal with the climate crisis and diversity, by the professor of Economics and Business Studies at the Open University of Catalonia and an expert in sustainable and resilient cities, Hugh March. This week we joined the Conference “AI for Low Carbon Cities”, thanks to the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung and Urban AI for hosting these discussions, which included:   Francesca Bria, President of the Italian National Innovation Fund Robert Heinecke, CEO, Breeze Technologies Nikola Milojević-Dupont, PhD researcher, Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC) gGmbH Myrian Rigal (née Schwitzner), Senior Product Manager, Technologiestiftung Berlin Katrin Fritsch, Green Web Foundation Moderation: Marie Josefine Hintz, Technical University of Berlin & Hertie School, Aurel von Richthofen, Arup & Hubert Beroche, Urban AI The discussions touched on linking open data usage, citizen participation, and tech innovation towards a healthier and greener city, opening the door for alternative innovation models in Europe. It touched the importance of  finding the right balance between regulation and enabling innovation, issues around access to data needed for accurate models, among many other others. This is THE topic that is present in all of TSPAs work and current projects:  how to use digital urbanism towards more inclusive and climate-responsive urban environments, especially in light of climate change. This talk reiterated the importance of the UP2030 HE #horizoneurope project, in driving collaboration between cities and digital tool providers (practitioners) to prototype at a neighborhood scale. At the same time to support up-scaling efforts to drive cities’ socio-technical transitions required to meet their climate neutrality targets. SPATIAL JUSTICE WORKSHOP 30 NOVEMBER Are you interested in Spatial Justice and Design for Values? At the Symposium of Spatial Justice in Practice dr. Marielle Feenstra (coordinator DfV) will give a workshop on how Design for Values resonates with the three tenets of justice and contributes to spatial justice. Members of the institute can join the symposium for a reduced fee.
