We were founded in 2021, as a carve-out of Enel the world’s leading privately owned distribution grid operator. Since December 2022 we are an independent company jointly controlled by Enel and the leading global alternative investment manager CVC Capital Partners, who support our mission of digitalizing power grids to accelerate the electric future: upgrading grid users’ experience through cutting cloud-edge sustainable solutions for the digitalization of electricity distribution networks, accelerating our electric future.

From our origin in the Enel Group, we have inherited a significant intellectual property portfolio and our solutions have more than 20 years of experience in the field. The company’s strong foundation is clearly evident in its milestone of deploying 100 million smart meters worldwide. This achievement spans two decades, from Enel's early development of smart meters in the 2000s to Gridspertise's continued production of reliable and trustworthy smart meters since its inception in 2021. 

Thanks to a decentralized global organization, our highly skilled, diversified, and dynamic team is perfectly positioned to work with utilities everywhere in the world, understanding their needs and offering tailored solutions. Through our consolidated legacy in operating distribution networks around the globe, we are testing new technologies in a variety of contexts and rolling out effective solutions. Outside the Enel Group, we are serving 63 clients in developing as well as in developed countries and managing infrastructure from rural areas to megacities.  

With the acquisition of Aidon, a leader in smart metering in the Nordics, we are expanding our opportunities in one of the most advanced grids scenarios and propelling our global reach to over 108 million smart meters delivered and more than 220 clients served so far, making Gridspertise Group a major player in massive rollouts at the European level.

We partner with utilities to help them advance their power distribution networks. We offer grid intelligent devices, end-to-end cloud-edge platform solutions and services to accelerate the digitalization of electricity distribution grids. Our portfolio is designed as an open ecosystem, easy to integrate with utilities’ existing infrastructure combining intelligent grid devices with ready-to-use modular applications, running at central level as well as on the edge and can be adapted to existing or emerging needs, also thanks to our network of research labs and partnerships. We work with world class technological partners, startups, and innovators to constantly improve and expand our products and services. We teamed up with Cuculus, a German-based software company specialized in critical infrastructures in the utility environment and setup Neugemacht, a new joint venture focused on providing modular and flexible end-to-end metering services in the German market. To this, we add in-depth knowledge of regulations, technical norms, and requirements in different parts of the world.
